“Rashford fails permanent transfer to Bayern after Barcelona’s refusal.”

The future of Marcus Rashford is shrouded in uncertainty, and Manchester United faces a new setback: Bayern Munich, one of the potential suitors, does not consider the England international a priority for the summer transfer market. At a time when the Red Devils are desperately trying to secure the permanent sale of the forward to finance upcoming signings, the situation becomes even more complicated.

Rashford, 28, returned to Old Trafford after a six-month loan at Aston Villa, followed by a brilliant season with Barcelona. At the Catalan club, the Englishman won La Liga and the Supercopa, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists in 49 matches, marking one of his best seasons ever. However, Barcelona chose not to trigger the permanent purchase clause, set at 30 million euros, preferring instead to invest in Anthony Gordon from Newcastle. This decision has left Manchester United in a difficult position, at a time when the club is undergoing a significant restructuring and urgently needs to generate substantial funds through sales.

The context is clear: Rashford is no longer part of the plans of the leadership led by INEOS, which has maintained the same position taken during the brief reign of Ruben Amorim. With the forward out of Erik ten Hag’s options, the need to find a definitive solution has become a priority. The failure of the transfer to Barcelona is seen as a significant setback, not only because the Catalan club was the most likely destination, but also because the market seems to be closing doors to a quick sale. With summer heating up, United is forced to consider alternative options, namely Chelsea and Bayern Munich, which have emerged in recent days as potential destinations.

However, the hopes of Red Devils fans have suffered another blow with the statements of renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, who clarified Bayern Munich’s real interest. “Many of you are asking me what is happening with Rashford,” Romano stated on his YouTube channel, adding: “There have been some calls from Bayern in the last two to three weeks to understand the situation of Marcus Rashford.” Despite confirming preliminary contacts, Romano was emphatic in explaining that “Bayern is oriented towards a different type of player,” citing Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven as an example. “Saibari is, obviously, technically different from Rashford, but in terms of salary and transfer cost, he is much more affordable than what would be necessary to sign Rashford. Therefore, it is a completely different deal and, for that reason, the situation with Rashford and Bayern comes down to appreciation, yes, but nothing more than that.”

Romano also emphasized that “there are people at Bayern who appreciate Rashford, but at this moment there are no negotiations, no proposals, and the club’s focus is on other players. Therefore, Rashford is not, at this moment, Bayern’s first choice.” These statements currently rule out any possibility of an imminent transfer to the Bundesliga, forcing Manchester United to rethink their entire strategy regarding the future of the English forward.

In this scenario, United faces a dilemma: to risk waiting for a proposal that is unlikely to come, or to try renegotiating with less interested clubs, such as Chelsea, which, despite being mentioned, has yet to make any concrete offer. With the market entering a decisive phase and the need for liquidity tightening, the pressure on the Red Devils’ management increases with each passing week without a solution in sight. For Rashford, the summer promises to be filled with uncertainties and behind-the-scenes negotiations, with his future depending on movements that, for now, seem far from happening. The saga is far from over and may have surprising new chapters in the coming weeks.
