Liverpool is ramping up negotiations with RB Leipzig to secure the signing of young prodigy Yan Diomande, who is just 19 years old, in a frantic race that also involves Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and other European giants. Although no formal offer has been made yet, the interest from the Reds is clear and promises to shake up the transfer market this summer.
Yan Diomande, the Ivorian winger who shone in the Bundesliga, has been attracting interest not only in England — with Manchester United and Manchester City also in the race — but also in Germany, where Bayern Munich is closely monitoring him. PSG, the current European champion and French giant, is another club that does not hide its desire to sign him, as the player himself revealed in a recent interview with the French channel Telefoot 1: “It would be a pleasure to play in Ligue 1, at one of the biggest clubs. I have played in France in the past and I don’t think the adaptation would be difficult. Why not? But above all, I am a player of RB Leipzig.”
Diomande does not hide his admiration for PSG and revealed that he views the club’s consecutive victories in the Champions League positively, even confessing a personal connection: “Yes, because my father supports PSG. It was fantastic to see them win.” When asked about his desire to play in Paris, he was emphatic: “I really like them.”
However, the transfer of the winger is shrouded in a legal controversy that could complicate the plans of the interested teams. The young player, who recently signed with Roc Nation Sports, now finds himself in the middle of a dispute with his former representatives at Maxidel Management, who have approached the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) claiming they still hold the representation rights for Diomande. RB Leipzig has reportedly authorized this agency to manage the transfer, but the case, initiated on May 7, remains uncertain, potentially delaying the finalization of the deal.
Diomande’s career has been meteoric. Just a year ago, the young Ivorian had only a handful of appearances for Leganés’ first team, where he scored on two occasions, despite the team’s relegation from LaLiga. His talent was enough to convince Leipzig to shell out 20 million euros to sign him for the Bundesliga. Since then, Diomande has been a revelation — an electrifying presence in attack, almost impossible to stop, with a speed and creativity that leave opponents on edge.
Liverpool, known for its investment in young and dynamic talents, is willing to fight to secure this rough diamond, who could become one of the big names in European football in the coming years. With PSG and German giants in the race, the battle promises to be fierce. It remains to be seen who will manage to persuade the young talent to shape his future in one of the continent’s top leagues. The upcoming transfer window promises intense emotions, and Yan Diomande is at the center of all attention.
