Matteo Berrettini asserts himself with authority at the Roland Garros and makes it clear that he is serious in the race for the French Grand Slam. The Italian tennis player, showcasing pure quality and determination, eliminated the 22nd seed, Arthur Rinderknech, with a categorical victory of 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, securing his place in the third round. In a section of the draw now completely open, following the elimination of Jannik Sinner, Berrettini is set to face Argentine Francisco Comesana, who triumphed over Luciano Darderi in five sets.

From the very first point, Berrettini displayed maximum concentration and a determined attitude. The break in the third game allowed him to control the opening set, which he completed in 45 minutes. In the second set, the Italian again started strong, immediately securing a break and establishing a solid lead of 4-1. Despite dropping a service game, he remained calm and closed the set at 6-4, reinforcing his superiority.

After a brief pause for the French player, Berrettini entered the third set with the same determination, securing a crucial break and leading the match until the end. A hard-fought game gave him a 4-2 advantage, and despite missing a match point at 5-3, he closed out the match in the tenth game while serving, showcasing a top-level performance. This display confirms Berrettini as one of the top contenders for glory in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the upper draw of Roland Garros continues to offer surprises. After the exit of Jannik Sinner, another high-seeded player has fallen: Ben Shelton was eliminated by Belgian Raphael Collignon, who prevailed with a score of 6-4, 7-5, 6-4. Collignon will be the next opponent of Matteo Arnaldi in a match that promises to be highly competitive and opens the door even wider for unexpected twists at this stage of the tournament. The first quarter of the draw is, therefore, more unpredictable than ever, with great battles ahead for tennis fans.
