Hansi Flick reveals the brutal truth about Barcelona’s season: “Not everything went as we wanted”

Barcelona’s coach, Hansi Flick, has issued a genuine warning to Catalan fans and the football world: the season that is now ending has been tough, but next year promises to be even more challenging. In exclusive statements during his last pre-match press conference of the season, Flick did not hide the difficulties faced by the Spanish giant, but he also made a clear promise: the team is ready to fight tooth and nail to raise their level.

“This season has flown by. It was not easy; it was tougher than the previous one, and many things did not go as we wanted from the start; we had to adapt,” confessed the German coach, emphasizing the team’s effort and the crucial support from the club, particularly from Deco and Bojan. “I feel incredible here; everything is focused on the success of the group. When the team wins, the club and everyone around it are happy – and that is what matters for such a spectacular club as ours.”

The challenge has been set: “We have a lot of work ahead of us and we need to prepare well for the next season. This one was very difficult, but the next will be even tougher.” The message is clear – Barcelona will not slow down, and the squad needs to strengthen and adjust to maintain its competitive level.

Among the news, Flick spoke about the young talent Hamza Abdelkarim, a U19 forward who has been called up to the Egypt national team for the World Cup. The Catalan club may activate the purchase clause of 3 million euros with Al-Ahly, and the player could join the first team’s pre-season training camp. “I’m keeping an eye on that; we want to see new faces, and the quality coming from La Masia continues to impress,” said Flick, who sees the young player as an option to consider.

Regarding the future of the squad, the coach was categorical: besides Robert Lewandowski, no player has expressed a desire to leave, despite speculation surrounding Ferran Torres. “We are not talking about the future. He has another year on his contract, and we will talk to him at the right time. I expect from him what he has shown in recent weeks – a positive attitude and performance at the highest level.”

The absence of French defender Jules Kounde in the last training session before the end of the season was explained by Flick: “He will play in the World Cup, he has some physical issues, and we are taking great care of him. It is a huge objective for him and for everyone.” Kounde is recovering well and is being closely monitored to ensure his presence in the competition.

In a moment of reflection, Flick revealed when he felt the league title was practically secured: “When we scored the second goal against Real Madrid, I was 100% convinced that we were going to win the title. The away game against Getafe also impressed me a lot, because of the team’s mentality on such a difficult pitch.”

Flick is now preparing to make history at Camp Nou: “I am 100% motivated to try to be only the third coach of Barcelona to win three consecutive La Liga titles, joining Johan Cruyff and Pep Guardiola.” The challenge is set, and the German coach seems more determined than ever to lead the club to glory.

Barcelona faces an uncertain future, but under Flick’s leadership, the promise of a triumphant return is in the air. The upcoming season will be a true test of the blaugranas’ ability to renew and show resilience, and the pressure to maintain success has never been higher. Fans are already on high alert – a revolution is on the way!
