Flavio Cobolli raises expectations and promises to surprise at the Internazionali di Roma: “The 12th position is just the beginning”

Italian tennis is in full swing, and one of its youngest talents, Flavio Cobolli, is determined to make a lasting impression at the upcoming Masters 1000 in Rome. The young Florentine, currently the third-best Italian in the world rankings, behind only Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti, is experiencing the best moment of his career and reveals a fierce ambition that promises to shake up the international tennis scene.

Cobolli recently achieved his highest ranking ever, occupying the 12th position in the ATP circuit, but he is not getting carried away: “I feel in my comfort zone, although it’s something new for me. I need to distinguish things: on one hand, it’s great, but on the other, I have to keep working, because being number 12 in the world is not a destination, but rather a starting point. I need to maintain humility and not set limits for myself. In Rome, I want to prove that I can be consistent throughout the entire season,” the player stated in an exclusive conversation following a significant meeting with the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

This meeting was a unique moment for the young talent. “It was a privilege to speak with President Mattarella. I hope we can repeat this experience in the future,” confessed Cobolli, still visibly emotional. The head of state received the Italian team, which recently won the Davis Cup and the BJK Cup, in a moment the tennis player described as “intense” and “very special.” “For two or three days, I couldn’t believe I would be speaking in front of the President of the Republic. At first, I didn’t feel comfortable, but when I got there, I felt like I do when I step onto the court: I was representing my teammates, and I think it went very well,” he added.

The Rome Masters 1000 promises to be a stage for great emotions for Italian tennis, with 12 national players in the main draw. In addition to Flavio Cobolli, the Italian contingent includes stars like Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti, Luciano Darderi, Matteo Berrettini, Lorenzo Sonego, Luca Nardi, Matteo Arnaldi, Francesco Maestrelli, Mattia Bellucci, Gianluca Cadenasso, and Federico Cinà.

With this rising golden generation and Flavio Cobolli’s renewed ambition, the Italian public and tennis fans around the world have plenty of reasons to keep an eye on what will happen at the Foro Italico. The promise has been made: the 12th position in the ATP ranking is just the starting point for a future filled with achievements and glories.
