Miguel Oliveira, the talented Portuguese motorcyclist, once again demonstrated his grit and determination by securing third place in Race 2 of the thrilling Superbike weekend in Portimão. This result is not only a personal victory but also a reaffirmation of his standing in the championship, as Oliveira replicated his brilliant performance from Saturday’s race and the superpole. The podium was dominated by Italian rider Nicolò Bulega, who took the win, followed by his Ducati teammate Iker Lecuona, who secured second place.

The race started promisingly for Oliveira. Despite starting from third place, he quickly lost a position but did not let that discourage him. With a strong start, he managed to overtake Lecuona and soon after Alex Lowes on the second lap. However, the impressive speed of the Ducati was a decisive factor, and Oliveira had to focus on defending his third position, facing constant pressure from Lowes, who was glued to his rear.

The battle was intense, with the experienced British Kawasaki rider pressing relentlessly. However, the Portuguese “Falcon” showed he also has wings, maintaining his position with strategic and focused riding. The gap between the two never exceeded a second, but Lowes was unable to find an opportunity to overtake, highlighting Oliveira’s defensive skills.

Ducati dominated the pace in the races this weekend, with Bulega winning all six races so far in the 2026 season. Lecuona, joining Bulega on the podium, solidified the supremacy of the Italian brand, making it clear that the competition will be fierce this year.

Thanks to his remarkable performance in Portimão, Miguel Oliveira moved up four positions in the riders’ championship, now occupying fourth place with 56 points. The leader, Nicolò Bulega, stands out with 124 points, nearly double that of the second-placed Iker Lecuona, who has 68 points. Axel Bassani, with 60 points, holds third place.

In response to his performance, Oliveira stated: “Alex pressured me for many laps. Despite feeling some difficulties, I tried to be as fast as possible to finish in 3rd place. It’s a step forward and I’m excited for the next weekend.” The rider’s enthusiasm reflects the growing anticipation for the upcoming races, where all eyes will once again be on the Portuguese talent.

Miguel Oliveira continues to impress with his resilience and skill on the track, and fans are eager to see what the future holds for this motocross prodigy.
