Dele Alli, the former phenomenon of Tottenham Hotspur, is back at the club that launched him to fame, but this time under different circumstances. The 29-year-old midfielder has been training independently at the Spurs’ facilities, a chance granted for him to work on his fitness while searching for a new club. His journey has been marked by ups and downs, and now he is trying to make up for lost time.

On his social media, Dele shared clips of his training sessions on the grounds of Tottenham’s academy, reigniting hope among fans who once watched him shine. Since leaving the club in 2022, his path has been tumultuous, culminating in the termination of his contract with Como in Serie A in September 2025. However, his connection with Tottenham has never been completely severed; he made a special appearance during the North London derby against Arsenal in February, a moment that made fans’ hearts race.

During his time at Tottenham, Dele Alli scored an impressive 67 goals in 269 matches, totaling 19,150 minutes on the pitch. His time at MK Dons, where he played 6,514 minutes, pales in comparison to his output in London. However, after leaving the Spurs, his career took an unexpected turn. Struggles to maintain form and fitness limited his impact at clubs like Everton and Besiktas. Between 2022 and 2024, he made only 13 appearances for Everton, accumulating just 369 minutes of play. At Besiktas, things did not improve significantly, with three goals in 15 matches and 830 minutes on the field.

His last chapter at Como was brief and unhappy, where he made only one appearance, being sent off shortly after coming on as a substitute against AC Milan. Now, the question lingering is: could Dele Alli return to Tottenham? Currently, he is a free agent, meaning he can be signed outside of transfer windows. Although a return to the Spurs does not seem likely, the possibility is not entirely ruled out, especially depending on who the new coach of the team will be next season.

Nonetheless, Tottenham has confirmed that Dele is training individually, with no mention of an official trial, raising questions about his future. The saga of Dele Alli serves as a grim reminder of how quickly an athlete’s life can change, but it also offers a glimmer of hope. Could he regain his form and eventually shine again at the club that launched him to stardom? Only time will tell.
