The recent victory of Sporting CP over FC Porto, by 1-0, not only secured an advantage in the tie but also raised questions about the dragons’ conduct on the field. Trincão, the 26-year-old Portuguese forward, did not hesitate to label the result as “fair” and criticized the opponent’s attitude during the first half of the match.

In statements to Sport TV, Trincão expressed his frustration with FC Porto’s approach, which, according to him, seemed to prefer a game interrupted and marked by fouls. “I think FC Porto did not want to play and took advantage of the fouls in the first half. They wanted the game to be stopped and more fragmented. In the second half, we played more, scored a penalty goal, and it could have been more. We wanted to do more, but in the first half there were many fouls… there was a lot of time wasted,” the player stated, reflecting on the game’s dynamics.

The Portuguese international also emphasized that Sporting’s goal is clear: to return to Jamor and win a trophy that they already claimed last season. “We want to win a trophy that we achieved last season. The tie is open, and now we will rest, as we have plenty of time to think about that second match,” he added.

Trincão also defended that the criticism of the two-time champions’ performance in important matches is unfair. “I don’t agree with that. They only lacked results in the championship, as we managed to do it in the Champions League and made it to the quarter-finals,” he highlighted, showing confidence in the team’s ability.

The forward also commented on the upcoming challenge for Sporting, which will be against Sp. Braga on Saturday. “It’s always good to work off victories, but this tie is still open, despite our advantage. Against Sp. Braga, it will be a different game, in a different stadium, which we also want to win,” he concluded.

With the tie to be decided on April 22 at the Estádio do Dragão, expectations are high, and the pressure on FC Porto increases after this result. How the team reacts to the setback and the psychological impact of the defeat in the next match will be crucial. Sporting, on the other hand, seems to be on an upward trajectory and determined to continue its pursuit of more trophies.
