The winter signings of FC Porto are already bearing fruit, with the new recruits making an immediate and decisive impact on the pitch. The strategy of strengthening the team with new players, even in the midst of the season, has proven to be correct, providing coach Francesco Farioli with a new dynamic and tactical options that quickly translated into victories.
“The time is showing that everyone has an important role,” Farioli stated after the recent victory over Arouca, where three of his new signings stood out. Oskar Pietuszewski, a young prodigy at just 17 years old, has already made his mark by scoring a goal, providing an assist, and winning a penalty. Fofana, in turn, was equally effective by scoring in the classic against Sporting and earning a decisive penalty in the following match. And we cannot forget Moffi, who made his debut by scoring, while Thiago Silva brought valuable experience and leadership to the group.
FC Porto made surgical adjustments in the winter transfer market, bringing in four new players for all positions except goalkeeper. Despite the typical challenges of a transfer window, the new additions did not take long to adapt and showed they were ready to make a difference. Pietuszewski, for example, made a memorable debut, becoming the youngest foreigner to play and score for the club, and he also set the record for the fastest goal in the history of Estádio do Dragão, with an impressive time of just 13 seconds.
Fofana, despite having played only 73 minutes in four matches, could not have had a more impactful debut. Coming on during the classic against Sporting, he managed to score and demonstrate his ability to decide games. In the clash against Arouca, he played a crucial role by winning a penalty that led to a dramatic victory for his team.
Lastly, Moffi, who arrived in Invicta a bit late in the transfer market, quickly made his mark by sealing the score against Arouca. Although he is still working on his fitness, the expectation is that as the season progresses, he will be able to take on a central role in the Porto attack, especially in decisive matches like the upcoming classic against Benfica.
The current season is showcasing a true “democracy” in goal scoring at FC Porto, with 19 different players contributing to the scoreline, already surpassing the 18 goals from the 2024/25 season. Samu, who is currently injured, was the only player to reach double digits, but the number of players scoring reflects a cohesive and talented team, capable of supporting each other in pursuit of success. The future looks bright for the dragons, who, with their new signings, are determined to fight for more victories.
