Matheus Cunha, the forward for Manchester United, revealed the pivotal moment that sparked the club’s remarkable recovery under the leadership of Michael Carrick. The Red Devils are going through an impressive phase, remaining unbeaten in their last six matches. Interestingly, they are the only team in the Premier League that has not tasted defeat since the start of the year, a transformation that coincided with Carrick’s appointment as interim manager following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.

In their latest clash, United triumphed 1-0 over Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium, a result that solidified their position in fourth place in the table, three points ahead of Chelsea and Liverpool, and just three points behind Aston Villa, who sit in third. Under Carrick’s guidance, the team has shown a new face, playing vibrant and daring football, while also proving capable of fighting and securing results when the situation demands it.

Cunha was a key player in the victory over Everton, providing a sublime diagonal pass to Bryan Mbeumo, who in turn assisted Benjamin Sesko. In statements to Globo Esporte, the Brazilian emphasized the significance of Carrick’s status as a club legend, which has been a determining factor in the team’s transformation.

“He is someone who has been a multiple champion with Manchester United as a player,” Cunha stated. “He has won the Premier League several times and was coached by Alex Ferguson, a legend of the sport. He knows what it takes to win here.”

The 26-year-old forward also mentioned the victory over Arsenal as the turning point that triggered the team’s current phase of success. “It’s a very strong team, but we played with a lot of courage at the Emirates. Even when we were losing, at no point did we lower our heads or give up on our game plan. It’s a matter of a winning mentality, believing in what the coach prepared during the week. We need that, to believe we can face anyone. It was one of those games that marks a career. I will never forget it.”

In addition to focusing on helping Manchester United, Cunha did not hide his ambition to represent the Brazilian national team in the upcoming World Cup. “Of course, the main focus is to help Manchester United, but I cannot hide the motivation to defend the Brazilian national team, especially in a World Cup. I do everything to be in that group, to represent that jersey. It’s the dream of every player.”

Cunha acknowledges the strong competition among the forwards of the national team but asserts that he has confidence in himself and his work. “I am having a good moment here at United and I will continue to work to the maximum to maintain this phase and even improve it.” With the determination of a true champion, Matheus Cunha is ready to face the challenges ahead, both at the club and with the national team.
