The 2025 LPGA season has made history, not only for the record number of winners but also for the incredible performances of two players who are redefining the standards of women’s golf. With Jeeno Thitikul and Nelly Korda winning the first two titles of the new 2026 season, history has been made. This is the first time in 20 years of Rolex Rankings that the top two players in the world have claimed victory in the first two tournaments of the season, as revealed by statistics expert Justin Ray.

Last season was a true rollercoaster of emotions, with 29 different players reaching the podium, 11 of whom were newcomers. Among them, only Thitikul and Japan’s Miyu Yamashita stood out by winning more than one title. The dynamics of this season’s start promise to electrify fans, especially with the participation of nine of the top ten players in the world at the upcoming HSBC Women’s World Championship, with Korda being the only exception.

Korda, who kicked off the season with a win at the controversial Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, where the tournament was reduced to just 54 holes, managed to end a nearly 15-month winless drought. Meanwhile, Thitikul, who returned to the number one position in the world rankings on August 4, 2025, has shown impressive form, with three victories in the last five LPGA tournaments and an impressive streak of eight consecutive top 10 finishes.

Thitikul’s latest victory is particularly significant as it was achieved on Thai soil, where she triumphed at the Honda LPGA Thailand with a one-stroke lead over Japan’s Chizzy Iwai. In her words, “I know it’s not an event as big as the majors, but for us, for me, winning in my country would be very important, sometimes even more than a major.” This statement reveals the depth of pride and emotion the player feels in representing her nation.

With the combination of Thitikul’s skill and determination alongside Korda, what can we expect from this season? The stage is set for a golf spectacle that could not only entertain but also inspire a new generation of female players. All eyes are on the HSBC Women’s World Championship, where the rivalry and excellence of women’s golf promise to shine brightly.
