The tension was at its peak on Sunday night as Jacob Bridgeman battled through the 72nd hole in search of his first victory on the PGA Tour. Needing just a par to clinch the title at the 2026 Genesis Invitational, the pressure mounted when Rory McIlroy made an impressive 30-foot birdie on the 18th hole. However, the 26-year-old remained calm and finished the hole with standard shots, securing an exhilarating victory in one of the circuit’s most prestigious events.

However, after the exhausting competition in sunny California, Bridgeman made a surprising decision: he chose to withdraw from the Cognizant Classic event, which is scheduled to begin on the 26th. The confirmation came directly from the PGA Tour’s communication, which announced the field updates: “Ben Griffin WD, Jackson Suber IN, Jacob Bridgeman WD, Lanto Griffin IN.” His spot will be taken by Lanto Griffin, who will now have the opportunity to shine in Palm Beaches.

Bridgeman’s withdrawal is not a total surprise, considering the frantic pace he has maintained this season. Since January 15, 2026, he has participated in five PGA Tour events, with the only exception being the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. After a grueling battle at Riviera Golf Course, it is understandable that the player needs some time to recharge and assess his strategy for the remainder of the season.

With an impressive $4 million prize in his account, Bridgeman is now focused on his recovery and preparation for the upcoming challenges. The decision to temporarily step away from the circuit could be the key to an even stronger and more competitive return. The golfing community is eagerly awaiting to see how this break will affect his future performance.
