“Eberechi Eze in search of rebirth: Arsenal could unlock talent.”

Eberechi Eze, the prodigy who shone with a stunning hat-trick against Tottenham, seems to have fallen into a spiral of difficulties at Arsenal since then. Expectations were high following that memorable game, where Mikel Arteta praised the “joy” and “aura” that Eze brought to the team. However, three months later, the situation for the £67.5 million player, who joined the club from Crystal Palace, remains a true mystery. With Arsenal preparing to face Tottenham again, the pressure on Eze and Arteta is mounting.

The Arsenal manager faces a complicated dilemma: how to unlock Eze’s potential, which appears to be struggling to establish itself in the team? Despite an encouraging performance in the FA Cup victory over Wigan, where Eze shone with audacious passes and shots on goal, the player quickly returned to the bench in the following match against Wolves. With only one start in the last 11 games of the Premier League, Eze’s confidence seems to have evaporated, while Arteta tries to find a formula that balances control and creativity in his squad.

The situation is further complicated by Arsenal’s tactical movement. Bukayo Saka, one of the team’s most in-form players, has been placed in the number 10 position, which has ultimately squeezed Eze out. Paul Merson, a former player and now commentator, questioned whether Eze will have many more opportunities this season: “If I were Eze, I’d be thinking: ‘Am I going to play much more for Arsenal this season?'”

It is important to acknowledge that Eze also bears some responsibility for his difficulties. His performance in the 1-1 draw with Brentford was below expectations, leading to his substitution at halftime. The lack of consistency has been a challenge for Eze, even in the early months of the season, where his displays have not lived up to the expectations created.

As Arsenal’s season drags on, the priority must be to find a way to bring Eze back to the star level that made him a nightmare for Tottenham’s defense. Where better to restart than at the stadium where he has already scored three goals in his last two visits? Tottenham is undoubtedly one of his favorite opponents, with six goals in just eight encounters.

What was remarkable about Eze’s performance against Tottenham was his ability to position himself for finishing opportunities. He managed to score three goals from just six shots, being the player with the most touches in the opponent’s area, an impressive total of seven. However, the team’s dynamics changed, especially in the absence of striker Merino, who is no longer available due to injuries. Eze felt the lack of chemistry with his teammates, which further complicated his adaptation.

With Arsenal facing a crucial moment in the season, the need to revitalize Eze and restore his confidence becomes urgent. The expectation is that Arteta will find the solution to reintegrate the young talent into the team, allowing Arsenal to regain their offensive capability and, who knows, shine once again on the Premier League stage.
