The investment from the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia in LIV Golf has surged to an impressive $5.3 billion. This revelation, which comes at a time of increasing attention on the circuit, was disclosed by the “Money in Sports” newsletter and is directly linked to a capital injection of $266.6 million approved by Governor Yasir Al Rumayyan earlier this month.

LIV Golf, which already had a history of significant spending, maintained an average of $100 million per month in net expenses during 2024 and 2025. If this rate continues, the total investment from the PIF is expected to reach the $6 billion mark by the end of this year. This increase in funding is a clear indication of LIV Golf’s ambition to revolutionize the professional golf landscape, bringing more robust and engaging competitions.

In 2026, LIV Golf not only saw an increase in its investment but also a significant expansion of its prize fund, which grew from $25 million to $32.3 million per tournament. While the individual prize remains fixed at $20 million, the fund allocated for teams has doubled, now totaling $10 million per tournament, distributed among all 13 teams, rather than focusing solely on the top three.

Regarding competitions, LIV Golf has already held two of the 14 events scheduled for the 2026 season. Rookie player Elvis Smylie made history by winning his first title in his debut in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Additionally, veteran Anthony Kim celebrated a triumphant return to golf, securing his first victory on any tour in 16 years during the event in Adelaide, Australia.

With the next event set to take place from March 5 to 8 in Hong Kong, the tour promises to continue attracting attention and challenging the established norms of professional golf. The massive investment and changes in competitions indicate a promising future for LIV Golf, which is determined to leave its indelible mark on the world of golf.
