The Trump International Golf Links, located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, is making headlines! Just a year after its inauguration, the exclusive golf course, designed by Eric Trump, has secured a significant contract to host a Tour event. According to information released by John Turnbull of Bunkered, “From August 6 to 9, the New Course at Trump International Golf Links will host the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship.”

This tournament, part of the prestigious European Legends Tour and under the direction of the famous Colin Montgomerie, promises to attract global attention, taking place on the Old Course of Trump’s club. The event follows the Portugal Invitational in 2026, which will occur a week earlier at The Els Club Vilamoura.

Since its opening, Trump International Golf Links has already made a name for itself by hosting the Nexo Championship last season, an event that, although not part of the European Legends Tour, saw PGA stars competing on its grounds. New members like Dan Brown and Marco Penge have shown they are ready for the challenge at the DP World Tour event.

David Adams, the CEO of the Legends Tour, commented: “The breadth of the schedule, the quality of the venues, and the global nature of the Tour reflect how far it has come.” The Legends Tour is expanding its presence on the global stage and, by including a new venue like Trump International Golf Links, it seems to be prioritizing business potential and international attention over sticking to its traditional locations.

However, not everything is rosy for Trump’s new course. Since its opening, Trump International Golf Links has faced some significant challenges. Opened to the public in the summer of 2025, the course was designed to challenge contemporary golfers but was not prepared for the Scottish weather. Severe weather in August caused considerable damage, leading to the prolonged closure of the course ahead of the 2025 Nexo Championship. Despite the concerns raised, the course’s drainage system proved effective, allowing the venue to be restored to its ideal condition before the event.

With the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship on the horizon, many are wondering if the weather will once again be a decisive factor. The future of Trump International Golf Links looks promising, but Scotland’s unpredictable nature could be as formidable an opponent as any golfer.
