Tottenham Hotspur faces an alarming situation on the eve of the crucial North London derby, with forward Dominic Solanke dealing with a throat issue. This challenge comes at a critical time, as the team, under the new management of Igor Tudor, prepares for a decisive clash against Arsenal. Tudor, who took charge of the team until the end of the season following the dismissal of Thomas Frank, finds himself in a delicate position, with no fewer than 12 first-team players unavailable for this match.
In his first press conference since being appointed, Tudor revealed the severity of the situation, stating: “We trained with 13 players. It is what it is.” He did not hide his concern, although he expressed confidence in the team’s ability to achieve a positive result, despite the shortage of personnel. “It’s not fantastic, it’s not pretty, but with 13 players, we will have what we need to achieve what we want on Sunday,” the coach added.
Dominic Solanke, who faced a “slight” health issue earlier in the week, managed to train with his teammates on Friday and is expected to be a key figure up front, although Tudor dismissed the possibility of Richarlison and Pedro Porro returning in time for this clash. When asked about the return of the two players, Tudor was clear: “Probably not. Dominic had a throat issue, but he trained for two days. Probably someone [will return] next week.”
The situation is even more complicated with captain Cristian Romero serving the second of four matches of suspension, after receiving his second red card of the season. His absence will be felt in defense, where players Destiny Udogie and Kevin Danso are expected to return around the same time.
With expectations high and pressure mounting, Tottenham will have to deal with a series of challenges as they prepare for one of the most intense matches on the calendar. Tudor’s task will not be easy, but the hope for a surprising result remains alive, even amid a sea of uncertainties and injuries. The North London derby promises to be an exciting spectacle, and all eyes will be on the Tottenham team to see how they will respond to this adversity.
