Vitor Pereira, the new manager of Nottingham Forest, is determined to take the team to new heights under the leadership of ambitious owner Evangelos Marinakis. Following a series of managerial changes, Pereira arrived at the City Ground with an 18-month contract, replacing Sean Dyche, who joined Nuno Espírito Santo and Ange Postecoglou on Marinakis’s list of dismissals since August. The Portuguese, who previously worked with Marinakis at Olympiacos, expressed his confidence in the owner during an emotionally charged and determined presentation.
“He is ambitious, he wants to win,” Pereira stated during the introductory press conference. “He is emotional, I know him very well.” The coach recalled the energy and passion they shared at Olympiacos, where they won the league and the cup. “He asked me to be myself, he liked what we did together,” he added. Pereira believes that the trust between them will be crucial for the success they hope to achieve.
Currently, Nottingham Forest finds itself in a delicate position, just three points above the relegation zone, with 12 games remaining in the Premier League. Pereira, who previously saved Wolverhampton from relegation before being dismissed after a winless start to the season, is aware of the challenges ahead. “This is a difficult season for the players, due to the different methodologies and coaches,” said the new manager. However, he maintains an optimistic view of the team’s potential, highlighting the quality of the players and the ambition of the club.
“I accept this job because I believe in the quality of the players and the potential of this club,” emphasized Pereira. “Of course, I believe it is possible (to stay in the Premier League). I believe we can earn points, achieve results, and show quality in our games.” With his first match in charge of Nottingham Forest set for the visit to Fenerbahçe in the Europa League play-off stage, Pereira is ready to face the pressure and lead the team towards the necessary recovery.
The future of Nottingham Forest now depends on Pereira’s ability to turn ambition into concrete results. Fans are eagerly awaiting a new era as the club fights to secure its place in the elite of English football.
