The anticipation surrounding Anthony Kim’s return to the professional golf circuit is high, especially following his thrilling victory at LIV Golf Adelaide, where the player put on a true spectacle by coming back from a five-shot deficit. This triumph not only marked a turning point in his career but also reignited hopes that Kim might receive an invitation to participate in the Masters, an event he has not attended since 2011.

Kim’s victory, an impressive feat, left the public and golf experts speculating about his future. No one could have predicted that the player, who had been relegated in the previous season, would produce such a masterful performance, finishing with a round of nine under par to secure his first professional win in over a decade. The success led to intensified calls for the golf master to be invited to Augusta National, where many believe his presence could bring a special shine to the tournament.

Currently ranked 203rd in the world, Kim has shown signs of recovery and improvement in his performances. In his glory days, he left an indelible mark at Augusta, setting the record for the most birdies in a single round at the Masters in 2009, with a total of 11, and achieving an impressive third place the following year. However, his trajectory at the PGA Championship was not equally glorious, with a 50th place as his best result in 2007 and missed cuts in 2010 and 2011.

However, expert Rex Hoggard, during an analysis on the Golf Channel Podcast, expressed skepticism about the possibility of Kim receiving an invitation to the Masters this year. Hoggard highlighted that, despite his potential, time is a crucial factor. “The window between now and the Masters, given that he doesn’t have many competitions to play – it’s a matter of scheduling, not about what he can do on the field – will likely be very narrow, and he may not have enough time to qualify for the Masters,” Hoggard stated.

He also raised the possibility of Kim being considered for the PGA Championship, mentioning his historical relationship with the PGA of America and the impact he had on the 2008 Ryder Cup team, suggesting that there would be a good amount of goodwill to bring him back to the major championship scene.

The golf community is eagerly awaiting a decision that could be announced soon. Kim’s absence from the Masters could generate widespread discontent, as few players attract as much interest and passion as he does. With his recent victory, the golf world is fervently curious to see what Anthony Kim could do if given a new opportunity to shine on a big stage.
