César Peixoto, the bold coach of Gil Vicente, has no doubts: his team is ready to face any opponent head-on, without hesitation. Following the thrilling 2-1 victory over Braga, Peixoto enthusiastically expressed how his team showcased grit and determination in a match that delighted the fans present at the Estádio Cidade in Barcelos.

“It was a great game, a great night of football, a great spectacle,” Peixoto began, visibly pleased with his players’ performance. “Anyone who came to the stadium surely left satisfied, and that makes us happy as well.” This victory is particularly significant, as Braga is recognized as one of the best teams in the league, having been in great form, not conceding any goals in six consecutive matches.

Peixoto did not hold back in praising his players, emphasizing the importance of the win: “Therefore, I believe this is a victory I am very proud of, for what these players have done. A great journey, but it’s just three points.” The analysis of the match revealed that, despite Braga managing to score a goal in the first half with only two shots on target, Gil Vicente’s response was exemplary. The coach highlighted the quality, organization, and spirit of his team, which, after some adjustments at halftime, returned to the field with renewed energy.

“We corrected one thing or another at halftime, made the team even more aggressive, and asked them to look each other in the eye even more,” explained Peixoto, referring to the strategy that led Gil Vicente to dominate the second half of the match. And the strategy worked, with the team scoring two goals and securing a deserved victory.

Regarding the fourth place in the standings, Peixoto was clear: “It was three points. We have a way of being, an ADN, an identity, that we do not give up playing eye to eye, regardless of who it is against.” His philosophy of play is clear and reflects the confidence he has in his team. “I think that’s what matters to me; the team behaved within what is normal for us,” he emphasized.

With safety already secured, Peixoto did not commit to excessive expectations for the future, preferring to focus on each upcoming match. “The main objective of the season is already guaranteed. Now, what more can we achieve? I don’t know. We’ll take it game by game.” With a fearless mentality and unwavering commitment, César Peixoto and Gil Vicente promise to continue surprising in the Primeira Liga.
