Novak Djokovic secured yet another place in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, keeping alive his pursuit of the highly coveted 25th Grand Slam title and his eighth trophy on the London grass. The 39-year-old Serbian overcame the resilient Roman Safiullin in the round of 16, who had been delivering an excellent tournament, winning 7-6(6), 6-3, 3-6, and 6-3, thus marking his access to the top 8 for the ninth consecutive edition – a feat only interrupted in 2016.

Now, the former world number one will face Felix Auger-Aliassime, in a duel that has not been repeated for four years. The head-to-head record between them is balanced, with one win each. To reach the semi-finals against the current leader of the men's circuit, Jannik Sinner, Djokovic will need to overcome the Canadian, who, like Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, has never experienced this pressure at Wimbledon.

The superiority and favoritism of the Serbian player were highlighted by John McEnroe, a tennis legend, who analyzed Djokovic's chances of returning to Grand Slam titles on the BBC microphones. During the match between Auger-Aliassime and Davidovich Fokina, which would determine Djokovic's next opponent, McEnroe stated: “The only thing that matters to him is to get the win. You know, he really doesn’t care how… he probably cares a little about how long it will take. But the good news is that, well, at this moment they are fighting it out, Félix [Auger-Aliassime] and [Alejandro] Davidovich Fokina. He will clearly be the favorite against both, because they have never been in this situation at Wimbledon. Then he will also have a few days off. So, it’s all organized in the best possible way.”

Djokovic thus reaches the quarter-finals in excellent physical shape, despite having dropped a few sets in the early rounds, and with the awareness that this could be his last great opportunity to win the title at Wimbledon. His hunger for victory remains intact, and considering his recent triumph in Australia against Sinner in the semi-finals, the London tournament could indeed become the final chapter of a legendary career.

Djokovic's journey at Wimbledon continues to be followed with great anticipation, especially given the historical significance that a potential victory could hold for the Belgrade tennis player. With experience on his side and unwavering motivation, the Serbian enters the quarter-finals as the leading candidate for victory, ready to continue making history on the sacred lawns of London.
