Diego Forlán takes over as the interim head coach of the Uruguayan national football team following the departure of Marcelo Bielsa, who left the position after disappointment in the group stage of the last World Cup. As a player, in addition to an unhappy stint at Manchester United, he shone at Spanish clubs such as Villarreal and Atlético Madrid, solidifying his international reputation.
