Francesco Farioli did not let the defeat of FC Porto against Gil Vicente get him down and highlighted the quality of his team's performance. In statements to Sport TV, the Italian coach emphasized that, despite the negative result, the team showed solidity and commitment during the match. “Besides the result, we have to take the performance into account,” he said. “I think we did well, the players covered a lot of ground, it has been a tough pre-season and the players have been working very well.”

Farioli particularly praised the first half of the game, where FC Porto created several opportunities that they failed to convert. “Of course, we did not want these results, but it was a night with plenty of chances, especially in the first half, which we did not take advantage of.” The coach also considered it essential to utilize young players at the end of the match, as they represent “the present and the future” of the club.

The focus of the coach is now on the Super Cup, which FC Porto will contest against Torreense on August 1. Farioli made it clear that the team needs to be prepared for this challenge, which involves winning an important trophy. “We have to be ready for the Super Cup, we are playing for a title, against an opponent that had an incredible run in the Portuguese Cup, we do not want to underestimate anyone and we have to be at our best physically and mentally if we want to lift the trophy.”

Regarding the transfer market, Farioli revealed that the work is not yet complete. “There is still a lot of market ahead, and we will take our time to finalize what we want.” The Italian coach highlighted the good physical condition of the players who returned after the break, which demonstrates a strong commitment to preparing for the new season. “All the players came back in very good shape, which is a clear sign that they were ready to prepare at the highest level. They have been working hard, knowing that many things need to be finalized and everyone is working to meet the expectations that everyone has.”

FC Porto now sees the Super Cup as a decisive test to confirm the team's evolution and secure a trophy early in the season, while continuing to shape the squad for the upcoming season.
