Viktor Gyokeres’ representatives demand urgent Arsenal meeting over striker’s future

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyökeres faces an uncertain future as his representatives demand an immediate meeting with club officials, signaling growing frustration over his diminishing role. The Swedish forward, who joined Arsenal from Sporting CP in July 2025 for £54.8 million, is reportedly unwilling to accept a peripheral position on the bench and seeks clear assurances about his first-team prospects.

According to transfer insider Indy Kaila, Gyökeres’ camp has urgently contacted Arsenal’s hierarchy, pressing for clarity on the striker’s status within Mikel Arteta’s squad. The 28-year-old has made it clear he requires regular playing time to maintain both his form and international credentials. “No more waiting. No more bench. He wants to play,” Kaila reported, highlighting the striker’s demand for guaranteed minutes on the pitch.

Gyökeres initially made a strong impact in North London, netting 14 goals in his debut campaign and contributing to Arsenal’s Premier League title success. However, this season has seen his opportunities significantly curtailed. Manager Mikel Arteta has increasingly preferred Kai Havertz and other attacking options, relegating Gyökeres mostly to substitute appearances late in matches. This shift has left the striker’s position in the squad precarious, prompting his representatives to seek urgent dialogue on his long-term future at the Emirates Stadium.

Interest in Gyökeres is already emerging from abroad, with Turkish giants Galatasaray reportedly considering a move for the forward in the January transfer window. Given his prolific scoring record at Sporting CP, it is anticipated that other clubs will join the pursuit if Arsenal cannot offer a prominent role.

The situation underscores a critical juncture for Gyökeres as he weighs his ambitions against Arsenal’s tactical preferences. With his camp demanding swift action, the club faces pressure to either reaffirm the striker’s role or risk losing a high-profile asset who insists on first-team football now.
