Sheffield United reject Sassuolo’s loan offer for defender Femi Seriki

Sheffield United have emphatically turned down Serie A outfit Sassuolo’s bid for promising defender Femi Seriki, halting the Italian club’s pursuit of the 24-year-old right-back. Sassuolo’s offer, reported to be an initial loan with a £5 million option to buy, failed to convince the Blades, who remain firm on retaining the defender’s services ahead of the new season.

Seriki, who arrived at Sheffield United from Bury in 2019, has amassed 69 appearances for the Championship side and demonstrated his versatility and growth through loan spells at Beerschot, Boston United, Rochdale, and Rotherham. Despite Sassuolo’s interest to bolster their defensive ranks, Sheffield United’s rejection signals their intent to keep Seriki as a key figure in their defensive lineup.

The Italian club may now be forced to return with an improved offer if they hope to secure the defender’s transfer. Meanwhile, Sheffield United continue to evaluate Seriki’s role and future plans as they prepare for the upcoming campaign. The Blades’ decision underscores their confidence in Seriki’s potential and importance to their squad dynamics.
