Mohamed Diomande says Rangers are ready for new season after tough pre-season

Mohamed Diomande insists Rangers are primed for a strong start to the new season following a grueling pre-season campaign. The Ivorian midfielder, reflecting on the team's preparations, emphasized that the demanding schedule has sharpened the squad’s readiness for the challenges ahead.

Diomande, now entering his third season with Rangers, expressed determination to overturn previous season openers, which he described as underwhelming. “The first games of the season in my two years here have not been good enough,” he candidly stated to Rangers TV. His focus is clear: secure maximum points in the upcoming clash against Dundee United. “I hope we can get all three points against Dundee United,” he affirmed, underscoring the urgency to kick off with a victory.

The midfielder highlighted Rangers’ promising performance in their recent friendly against West Ham. “Against West Ham, we controlled the game, especially in the first half,” Diomande explained. Although the team relaxed somewhat in the second half, allowing West Ham some opportunities, Rangers’ defensive resilience ensured a clean sheet. “We wanted to win the game, but we got a clean sheet,” he added, framing the encounter as a positive step forward.

Diomande praised the intensity of the pre-season, which included rigorous training and extensive running sessions in Spain. “Pre-season has been amazing for me, but we have worked hard,” he said. “I am happy with how I feel fitness-wise. I am where I need to be for the season.”

This blend of tough conditioning and tactical readiness positions Rangers as strong contenders to commence the campaign on a high note. Diomande’s confidence reflects a squad ready to harness their pre-season momentum and translate it into competitive success from the very first whistle.
