John Stones verbally agrees to join Inter Milan despite Arsenal and Chelsea interest

John Stones Set to Join Inter Milan in Major Transfer Coup Amid Premier League Interest

John Stones has verbally agreed to a move to Inter Milan, marking a significant development in the defender’s career. The England international is poised to sign a two-year contract with the Italian giants, completing a free transfer from his previous club. Inter Milan’s swift action to secure the 32-year-old’s signature comes despite strong interest from Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Chelsea.

According to sources in Italy, Stones’ representatives are currently finalising the terms of the deal with Inter Milan, who have been proactive in closing the agreement amid competition. Juventus also reportedly entered discussions with Stones’ camp over the weekend, highlighting the defender’s high profile and desirability across Europe’s top clubs.

Inter Milan, eager to bolster their defensive ranks, have made Stones their priority acquisition as they seek to maintain their status as Italian champions. While Spurs captain Cristian Romero remains a target for Inter’s head coach Christian Chivu, the financial demands of a Romero transfer are expected to be substantial. This has intensified Inter’s focus on securing Stones, whose experience and quality fit the club’s immediate needs.

The possibility exists for Inter to sign both Stones and Romero, contingent on the departure of Benjamin Pavard. However, at present, Stones appears to be the primary transfer target being aggressively pursued by the Nerazzurri.

With Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea also expressing interest, this verbal agreement signals a decisive move by Inter Milan to strengthen their backline ahead of the new season. The completion of Stones’ transfer would represent a coup for the Italian champions, adding a seasoned international defender to their roster without incurring a transfer fee.

Further updates on the finalisation of Stones’ contract with Inter Milan are expected shortly as negotiations reach their conclusion.
