Juventus add Benfica’s anatoliy trubin to goalkeeper shortlist amid Martinez stall

Juventus face mounting challenges in securing their goalkeeper target as fresh names emerge in their summer pursuit. The Serie A giants remain at an impasse over Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, prompting the club to widen their search, with Benfica’s Anatoliy Trubin now entering the fray as a serious contender.

Goalkeeper reinforcement stands as a top priority for Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti, alongside the urgent need to bolster their attacking options. Despite the transfer window progressing into late July, Juventus have only confirmed the signing of young midfielder Jeff Akhator, who has unfortunately suffered an injury setback. Meanwhile, the quest for a reliable No.1 continues.

Initially, Juventus aimed to sign Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, a player well-acquainted with Spalletti from their shared tenure at Roma. However, that pursuit collapsed, redirecting Juventus’s focus to Emiliano Martinez. The Aston Villa shot-stopper, 33, commands a hefty asking price reportedly between €12 million and €15 million—a figure Juventus deem excessive.

Consequently, Juventus have explored alternative candidates, including Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario and Parma’s Zion Suzuki. The latest revelation comes from La Stampa, which reports that Juventus have initiated talks with Benfica over Anatoliy Trubin, the 24-year-old goalkeeper. The Turin club has been informed that Benfica’s valuation for Trubin stands at around €30 million, aligning with the price tags associated with Vicario and Suzuki.

This development signals Juventus’s willingness to invest significantly to secure goalkeeping stability but also underlines the financial complexities they face. Trubin’s inclusion on the shortlist highlights a strategic pivot, considering the premium valuations and the club’s reluctance to meet Villa’s demands for Martinez.

As Juventus navigate this crucial transfer phase, Spalletti’s squad-building ambitions hang on the resolution of these negotiations. The Old Lady’s pursuit of a new goalkeeper is far from over, with Benfica’s Trubin emerging as a prominent—and costly—alternative in their summer overhaul.
