Juventus rivals Arsenal and Chelsea to sign free agent John Stones

Juventus emerges as a formidable contender in the race to secure defender John Stones, directly challenging Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea for the free agent’s signature. Stones, 32, recently parted ways with Manchester City, concluding a decade-long tenure that began with a £47.5 million transfer from Everton.

The centre back endured a challenging 2025-26 campaign plagued by injuries, limiting him to just 18 appearances across all competitions and only five starts in nine Premier League matches. Nevertheless, Stones remained a pivotal figure for England under Thomas Tuchel at the 2026 World Cup, reaffirming his value on the international stage.

Interest from Chelsea and Arsenal has been well documented, but Juventus now intensifies the competition. According to Sky Italia journalist Luca Bendoni, the Italian giants have initiated “serious contact” with Stones’ representatives and are actively negotiating to finalize the transfer.

This development signals Juventus’ aggressive intent to bolster their defensive line with a player of Stones’ calibre, setting the stage for a high-stakes battle against two of England’s top clubs. The coming days will be critical as Juventus pushes to convert these discussions into a landmark signing.
