Michael Olise’s Bayern future could trigger summer transfer shock, says expert

The future of Michael Olise at Bayern Munich has taken a dramatic twist, with leading Bundesliga expert Christian Falk suggesting that the French international’s transfer saga could erupt next summer if a contract extension is not secured. The winger’s name has recently reverberated around the transfer market, following reports that he has set his sights on a sensational move to Real Madrid.

Olise, 24, has been nothing short of extraordinary since arriving at the Allianz Arena, helping Bayern clinch two titles in two seasons. His 2025/26 campaign was particularly remarkable, amassing 20 goals and 25 assists across Bundesliga and Champions League fixtures, underlining his status as one of the world’s premier attacking talents. Despite this, uncertainty looms over his long-term future in Germany.

Recent days saw French journalist Santi Aouna reveal that Olise is eager to join Real Madrid as early as this summer, describing the Spanish giants as the “perfect club” for his continued development and claiming Real are ready to break transfer records to land the forward. However, Falk has countered these claims, stating emphatically that a transfer in the current window is off the table.

In his latest column, Falk clarified Bayern’s position: “This summer: no chance. Next summer, I think it will be very interesting to see what will happen with Olise, whether he signs a new contract or not. If he doesn’t, Bayern have to do something. Perhaps they have to sell him.” The German journalist stressed that, for now, Bayern supporters can breathe easy: “But for this summer, Michael Olise will stay at Bayern Munich. Perhaps it’s to his advantage, as this season he was in really, really good shape, but at the World Cup he only had an okay tournament.”

Falk also highlighted how a quieter summer, following a less-than-stellar World Cup semifinal performance against Spain, may work in Bayern’s favour: “Perhaps things are calming down somewhat, as he could have proved his elite status in football in the semi-final against Spain, but he didn’t show it. Perhaps the winger knows now that he still has more to learn before he hits the absolute peak of his powers. Evidently, the rumours have quietened down, and it’s easier for FC Bayern to keep Olise if he’s not a world champion.”

The allure of Real Madrid remains undeniable, with Olise rated as a near-perfect fit for the Spanish club according to recent transfer assessments. Yet, with Bayern Munich standing firm and Olise’s contract in the spotlight, the stage is set for a high-stakes standoff next year—one that could ignite the transfer market and reshape the landscape of European football.
