Real Madrid prepares €220 million Michael Olise offer to challenge Neymar’s transfer record

Real Madrid prepares €220 million Michael Olise offer to challenge Neymar’s transfer record

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing an audacious move for Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, with a transfer package that could threaten Neymar’s long-standing world record. The Spanish giants are said to be escalating their summer recruitment strategy, eyeing Olise as the marquee signing to herald Jose Mourinho’s highly anticipated return to the Bernabeu.

In what promises to be one of the most explosive transfer sagas of the summer, four major signings—Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, and Denzel Dumfries—have already committed to Real Madrid, following the re-election of president Florentino Perez. However, it is the pursuit of Olise that stands out, as the French international has reportedly been a key pillar of Perez’s campaign to maintain his position at the helm of the club.

Despite Perez not naming Olise publicly, Real Madrid have had to publicly deny claims of discussions with the player’s representatives. Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer echoed this stance, stating that the only communication from Madrid was a denial of any behind-the-scenes contact. Hainer further warned Perez, saying he can “save himself the effort” if he intends to table a bid, amidst rampant speculation of a €150 million offer.

Fresh reports now indicate that Real Madrid are readying an unprecedented package for Olise, with an offer believed to be €190 million plus an additional €30 million in add-ons. This would bring the total close to the existing world-record transfer fee set by Neymar’s €222 million move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

Olise’s stellar form at Bayern Munich has set the stage for this blockbuster pursuit. The 24-year-old winger is coming off a career-best season, having tallied an astonishing 25 goals and 28 assists in 57 appearances, leading Bayern to a second consecutive Bundesliga title. His performances have also propelled France to the quarter-finals of the World Cup, where they are set to face Morocco, maintaining his chances of adding international glory to his impressive résumé.

While Bayern Munich’s official stance remains firm, the scale of Madrid’s reported offer signals their intent to reshape the footballing landscape. The coming weeks could see Real Madrid attempt to break transfer records once more, as they look to launch the Mourinho era with a statement signing that could reverberate across the sport.
