West Ham lose 3-1 to West Brom as pressure mounts on Nuno

West Ham lost 3-1 at home to West Brom, leaving Nuno Espírito Santo on the brink of a serious review of his future. The manager now needs to avoid two more defeats to avoid putting his position in question.

The pressure on the manager has increased after this latest disappointment, with supporters calling for him to go since the previous 3-2 defeat to Southampton.

Hammers News had anticipated that Daniel Kretinsky, the club’s owner, would not give in to pressure from the supporters. A run of defeats against West Brom, Cardiff and Blackburn would, however, trigger a rigorous assessment of the situation. With the first of those three matches lost, concerns about Nuno’s future have become more evident.

Three home defeats and the promotion race

West Ham supporters were already voicing their discontent, and the latest defeat has intensified that feeling. The team, expected to be among the promotion favourites, increasingly looks like an ordinary Championship side.

The picture is worrying: West Ham have already suffered three defeats this season, all at home, and are now fighting for a place in the top eight of the league.

The situation is even more critical because other teams’ results have favoured their rivals. Middlesbrough, Swansea, Wolves, Stoke, Birmingham, Southampton and Millwall all picked up wins, increasing the gap between West Ham and the automatic promotion places.

The team have already used up half of the six defeats that are historically considered a warning sign, which puts Nuno under growing pressure.

Slow start proves costly again

One of West Ham’s main problems is their slow start to matches. Nuno has admitted several times that the team must improve in this area, but his promises have rung hollow, especially after West Brom took the lead in the first half.

Jarrod Bowen was West Ham’s most dangerous player and managed to level the score. However, the team once again failed to respond and conceded another goal shortly after the break.

With Nuno at a decisive moment, the next match, against Cardiff on Wednesday, and the visit to Blackburn on Saturday will be crucial. Without positive results, the board’s confidence in Nuno’s ability to lead the team to promotion could be called into question. Supporters are demanding action.
