Liverpool signing Bradley Barcola has admitted that supporters have yet to see “the best version of me”. The 24-year-old joined the club from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee that could rise to £123 million.
So far, he has not justified the investment: he has scored three goals in 13 games in all competitions and none in the Premier League.
“You haven’t seen the best version of me yet”
In an interview with the Liverpool Echo, Barcola admitted that his form so far has not lived up to supporters’ expectations. “No, I don’t think I’m at my best yet. You haven’t seen the best version of me yet. On top of that, we are working with my team-mates so that they can make the most of my strengths,” the player said.
Barcola was optimistic about the future: “Yes, I think once we really develop that understanding, things will get much better. And I think things are continually improving. People are starting to understand my style of play better. I think it’s going much better.”
Pressure to score in the Premier League
Barcola’s adaptation could have an impact on Liverpool’s performance in the competition. With expectations high, the forward will have to show that he is worth the money spent on signing him.
The next step is to keep building an understanding with his team-mates and start scoring in the Premier League, to ease the pressure. Supporters are waiting for that progress, which could be important for his future at Anfield.
