Rúben Amorim was greeted with great enthusiasm upon arriving at the Milan training center, accompanied by owner Gerry Cardinale, marking the official start of his new era as head coach of the Rossoneri. The Portuguese manager, who signed a two-year contract in mid-June, did not hide his pride and satisfaction regarding the challenge he now embraces in Italy.
Milan decided to move forward with the hiring of Amorim following the departure of Massimiliano Allegri, who was dismissed along with sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada, and CEO Giorgio Furlani, right after the conclusion of the 2025-26 season. Amorim arrived in Italy on Monday and, already on Tuesday, spent his first afternoon at Milanello, the club's training base.
In front of the cameras and journalists, Rúben Amorim and Gerry Cardinale posed for a series of photographs at the entrance of the facilities before heading inside the complex to begin planning for the new season, 2026-27. The atmosphere was marked by smiles, greetings, and a clear demonstration of confidence in the new technical project.
Minutes after landing on Italian soil, Amorim shared his excitement in an interview, stating: “I am really very happy to be here, it is an honor to be the coach of Milan.” The Portuguese coach also admitted: “It is a big challenge. After the last one, I had promised myself to choose a smaller challenge, but here I am and it is even bigger. I am really proud to be here, I just want to work with my players and my coaching staff, and I am truly happy to be here. Did I come to Milan to win? Of course. If you want to be the coach of Milan, you have to play to win.”
Amorim's arrival at Milanello and his confident demeanor suggest significant changes at the club, with the ambition of returning Milan to the path of titles. The Portuguese coach already demonstrates that he is fully aware of the responsibility and demands associated with the Milanese emblem. The start of his tenure is marked not only by the investment in new leadership but also by the clear goal of restoring the club's prominence next season.
