Liverpool fans remain uncertain about the future of Cody Gakpo, with conflicting reports emerging in the last 24 hours. Dutch media has suggested that the 27-year-old winger is open to a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, while interest from Brighton, led by Roberto De Zerbi, has also been mentioned. Additionally, TEAMtalk reported that Andoni Iraola may greenlight the player's exit if the Reds can secure a replacement before the transfer window closes.

With rumors circulating about a potential departure for the number 18 of Liverpool, the Anfield team remains strongly linked to a possible double signing from Paris Saint-Germain, involving Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye. This could indicate a significant shift in the squad in the coming days.

On Tuesday, Alex Crook from talkSPORT stated that it is unlikely Liverpool will allow Gakpo to transfer to Spurs. He reported that, according to club sources, the player had a good pre-season under Iraola and is seen as someone from whom the coach can get the best. Crook commented: “I think he would probably be open to the move, but at this moment it’s not something I expect to happen before the transfer window closes.”

On the other hand, Fabrizio Romano, on his YouTube channel, contradicted these claims, stating that negotiations for Gakpo with Tottenham are still ongoing. He said: “For Gakpo, Tottenham remains in talks. I know that in the last 24-48 hours, there have been rumors that the deal is not happening, but my understanding is that the negotiation for Cody Gakpo is still underway. Gakpo is open to joining Tottenham, personal terms are not an issue, so the deal continues.”

At this moment, the situation appears uncertain regarding a potential move for Gakpo from Merseyside to London in the next 13 days, and his future may depend on Liverpool's moves for Barcola and Mbaye. The Liverpool management will likely not authorize Gakpo's departure unless they can first secure the French winger from PSG, which is not guaranteed and may require a significant investment.

Gakpo underperformed last season but showed signs of revitalization over the summer, standing out for the Dutch national team in the World Cup and in pre-season matches against Monaco and Como, where he both scored and assisted. The player's strength of character is notable, as he managed to maintain a good level of performance just weeks after the tragic loss of his unborn child in June.

As the transfer deadline approaches, uncertainty regarding Gakpo's future at Liverpool persists, leaving fans and experts waiting for developments.
