Manchester United has not wasted any time and has already secured its first signing for the next season, even before the official opening of the transfer window, which begins in nine days. According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have finalized a deal with Atalanta for the acquisition of midfielder Ederson, in a transaction valued at 45 million euros.
Romano revealed that “all the documents are finalized” and that the 26-year-old player is practically set to sign a four-year contract — with an option for a fifth — which guarantees him around 5 million euros per year, equivalent to 4.3 million pounds. “Everything has been agreed with Ederson since May,” the Italian journalist confirmed, stating that the signing is 100% confirmed.
Standing at 1.83 meters tall, Ederson is noted for his impressive physical capacity and extensive coverage of the midfield, attributes that make him the perfect choice for the midfield renewal process led by Michael Carrick, who is now at the helm of the project at Old Trafford. The midfielder is expected to take the place left by Casemiro, whose future at the club remains uncertain.
But the revolution in the Red Devils’ midfield doesn’t stop here: it is expected that Manchester United, in partnership with INEOS, will push forward to sign at least one more midfielder, further strengthening the team’s core area. Should Manuel Ugarte leave Old Trafford, the management may indeed expedite negotiations to secure a third option for the sector, thus ensuring a profound overhaul of the squad.
This first signing leaves no doubt: Manchester United is preparing for a midfield revolution, with a significant investment and a clear focus on youth and physical strength, essential pillars for the club’s return to the European elite. Ederson is the first step in an ambitious strategy that promises to shake up the transfer market and excite Red Devils fans for the upcoming season.
