## Article

Mateo Kovačić, former [Inter Milan](https://apitofinal.pt/en/internacional-en/curtis-jones-is-close-to-leaving-liverpool-for-inter-milan/) player, is once again in the spotlight following a recent visit to [San Siro](https://apitofinal.pt/en/?p=679208), where he had the chance to reconnect with long-time friends. Speculation about a potential return of the Croatian to the Nerazzurri has intensified after his interaction with old acquaintances during a friendly match between [Manchester City](https://apitofinal.pt/en/?p=679102) and Inter, held in Hong Kong.

During the event, Inter shared a video on social media capturing Kovačić animatedly chatting with Petar Sučić and warmly greeting Federico Dimarco and assistant coach Aleksandar Kolarov. This reunion sparked conversations about a possible return of the midfielder to the club where he made his mark in Europe. Kovačić, who was part of Inter from 2013 to 2015, was acquired from Dinamo Zagreb for €11 million and sold to [Real Madrid](https://apitofinal.pt/en/?p=679249) for €38 million, a deal that yielded a significant profit for the Nerazzurri.

However, the realization of this return is still far from certain. [Inter Milan](https://apitofinal.pt/en/internacional-en/gvardiol-considers-maresca-perfect-for-manchester-city/) needs to make departures from their squad before considering the signing of Kovačić. Recently, there have been reports that the player's agent offered his client to the club's management, which, in turn, made it clear that any negotiations would depend on the sale of players like Kristjan Asllani and Davide Frattesi. So far, neither of the two players has been transferred, which limits the scope for the Croatian's arrival.

With almost a month left in the transfer window, the scenario could still change. Kovačić's return to Inter would not only signify a new opportunity for the player but also a valuable addition to the team's midfield, which is seeking reinforcements for the new season. The Croatian, now in the final year of his contract with [Manchester City](https://apitofinal.pt/en/?p=679223), is looking for clarity regarding his future, and Inter presents itself as an attractive option.

Anticipation surrounding this potential return continues to grow among fans, who are eager to see Kovačić back at the club where he began to make a name for himself on the European stage. With market movements intensifying, all eyes will be on the decisions Inter makes in the coming days.
