Maxence Lacroix is the latest addition to Chelsea, following the official confirmation of his transfer from Crystal Palace. The 26-year-old French centre-back highlighted the importance of the conversations he had with the Blues' new manager, Xabi Alonso, as a decisive factor in his move to Stamford Bridge.

Lacroix had an impressive performance during his time at Palace, making him a promising addition to Chelsea's squad, which has been struggling defensively. The player revealed details about his conversation with Alonso, stating: “I spoke with the coach on the phone. We discussed tactics, we talked about how he sees the game. First, I was happy to talk about football with him and I realized that we have the same direction and desire for this club.” The new signing also mentioned that national team colleagues, such as Malo Gusto, strongly recommended Chelsea to him, stating it was the best club for him.

Lacroix's arrival represents a solution to the defensive issues Chelsea has been facing, especially with the prolonged injuries of players like Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill. His experience in the [Premier League](https://apitofinal.pt/en/internacional-en/marcus-rashford-does-not-want-to-leave-manchester-united-to-join-ronaldo/), rather than being just a promise for the future, demonstrates the club's intention to become a serious contender for major titles, moving away from the previous approach of focusing solely on young talents.

In addition to Lacroix, Chelsea is bolstering its squad with the potential arrival of other players, such as Morgan Rogers and possibly Jordan Henderson and Danny Welbeck. This movement in the transfer market suggests that the London club is preparing for an ambitious season under Alonso's leadership, who is already implementing his vision for Chelsea.

With the new era under Xabi Alonso beginning, expectations are high among fans and analysts, who believe that Lacroix could be a key piece in the team's transformation. The impact of this transfer will be crucial for Chelsea's immediate future, as the club seeks not only defensive stability but also a return to the glories of English football.
