Manchester United is experiencing a decisive moment in its season, and the central figure of this resurgence could be striker Benjamin Sesko. The legendary Gary Neville has praised the young player, stating that his signing could be a true “turning point” for the Red Devils. This statement comes after an impressive performance from Sesko, who scored a crucial goal in the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League, a win seen as essential for the team’s morale.

In the match at Old Trafford, Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix put the visitors ahead, but Manchester United’s response was swift, with Bruno Fernandes equalizing from the penalty spot. However, it was Sesko’s header in the 65th minute that sealed the three points for the Manchester side. This goal is a clear indication that the confidence of the young Slovenian international is growing, especially after a challenging start to the season, where he faced criticism for his adaptation to the club.

Neville did not hesitate to express his optimism about Sesko’s potential, especially considering that it was Ruben Amorim who brought him to United in a deal worth around 74 million euros from RB Leipzig. “He is going through an excellent phase, with seven goals in the last eight games across all competitions, after having scored only two previously. If he can maintain this trajectory, it will be something very significant for the future of Manchester United,” Neville stated.

Neville’s comments were clear: “He now has confidence, and today’s starting position was necessary after his recent form. The confidence, the goals, the shots… he is scoring brilliant goals, and that is undeniable. It is evident that he has improved immensely.” Any doubts about his inclusion in the starting eleven by Michael Carrick have been dispelled, and Sesko’s performance may indicate that the coach is working to bring out the best in the young forward.

Neville argued that Sesko’s success is crucial, as Manchester United cannot afford for another forward to struggle with adapting to the club. Comparing him to players like Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, who have already proven to be assets from the start, the former United defender emphasized the importance of having a strong and cohesive attack. “If Sesko continues to evolve, that will be a huge asset. If Carrick can get the best out of him, it means that in the next transfer window, the focus could be on other positions, such as midfield, especially with the possible departure of Casemiro, and perhaps even a full-back or a centre-back, which are areas with problems to solve.”

The transformation that Carrick is bringing to the team is remarkable, and Neville believes he has managed to double or even triple the squad’s value compared to what it was under Amorim’s leadership. “Players who were once questionable are now showing themselves to be great talents. This will definitely please the owners, especially after a period of excessive spending without return. It’s a complete transformation.”

With Benjamin Sesko’s future now looking more promising, Manchester United fans can finally glimpse a new era, where the attack could be one of the team’s strengths, built on a goal that may have changed the course of the season. The development of this young player will undoubtedly be one of the narratives to follow in the coming months.
