The alarming situation at Tottenham Hotspur is dominating conversations in the football world, and Pedro Porro, the team’s defender, does not hesitate to expose the harsh reality his team is facing in the Premier League. Describing the club’s campaign as a “disaster,” Porro not only expresses the frustration of many fans but also points to the main cause of the decline: a series of injuries that have plagued the team.

The Spurs will take to the field in their next match against Crystal Palace with a streak of 10 league games without a win, a statistic that leaves them perilously just one point above the relegation zone. With pressure mounting, a defeat against the Eagles could further exacerbate the crisis, especially with a difficult encounter at Anfield awaiting them in the next round.

“It’s a difficult situation to understand. Our position in the Premier League is a disaster and that is the reality. We are just one point above the relegation zone and I don’t know what is happening,” Porro stated in comments to Spanish media. The defender emphasized that the depth of the squad is a crucial factor that has compromised the team’s performance. With 10 key players sidelined, the lack of options has been a significant disadvantage for Tottenham.

“You see the group of players that are injured and they could perfectly play in the Premier League matches,” he explained. “It’s a starting team that makes you think ‘wow!’… I think that’s where the problem lies.” Porro himself had to deal with a muscle injury, missing four games before returning to the field in the recent defeat against Fulham.

In addition to the difficulties in the league, Tottenham has also suffered early exits in several competitions, including the League Cup and the FA Cup. “I believe it is necessary to build a project to compete for everything. Obviously, when you don’t have a team to compete on four fronts, it’s difficult,” he added.

However, not all is lost for the Spurs. Despite domestic challenges, the team has performed impressively in the UEFA Champions League, advancing to the knockout stage after finishing fourth in the group stage, winning five of eight matches. The next challenge will be against Atlético Madrid, and Porro acknowledges that the Spaniards are the favorites, but he does not underestimate Tottenham’s capabilities. “Obviously, looking at both teams now, Atlético is the favorite. But then you see how we compete in the Champions and almost don’t concede goals at home. It will be two very intense matches.”

Finally, Porro was asked about rumors linking him to Real Madrid. With a contract until 2028, the 26-year-old player reaffirmed his focus on improving his own performances before dreaming of a big club. “When you’re young, you dream of many things. I’m focused on my daily tasks, which is the reality. When you think about playing for the best clubs in the world, you have to do many things right for that day to come. I feel that I still have things to improve, and then we will see.”

The situation at Tottenham is critical, but the determination of players like Pedro Porro could be the key to turning the team’s fortunes around. The fight for survival in the Premier League is far from over, and fans are eagerly hoping for a recovery that will restore their faith.
