Rio Ferdinand’s analysis of young Manchester United defender Lenny Yoro reveals a growing concern regarding the athlete’s on-field performance. However, Ferdinand does not hesitate to emphasize that the player must adjust his approach. In his podcast, “Rio Ferdinand Presents,” he stated: “Lenny Yoro is trying to fight too many battles on the pitch when physically he is not starting from the same point. The opponents are much more physically developed. Most of the players he is up against, especially the forwards, are stronger than him. Therefore, it is crucial to pick his battles. If he has a 60-40 advantage, then he should go for it.”

The recent opportunities for Yoro come at a critical moment, marked by the prolonged absence of Lisandro Martinez. The Argentine international has been sidelined since February due to a calf injury, having participated in only 15 matches this season, after already undergoing a nine-month recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury. In an emotional revelation, Martinez shared the importance of the support he received from his Argentina teammates, such as Alexis Mac Allister and Emiliano Martinez, during his rehabilitation. He admitted, in a statement to South American television channel DSports, that he considered retirement amid his recovery.

“It was one of the most difficult situations. I needed everyone’s help; without them, it wouldn’t have been easy. You have to start from scratch,” he confessed. “Dibu (Martinez) and Mac Allister showed up at my house to support me. That shows how we are in the national team, how we take care of each other. Dibu sent me a message. He said he was coming to my house, and when he arrived, he said, ‘Mac Allister is coming too.’ It was a really beautiful moment.”
