The world of professional golf is once again in turmoil, but this time not due to impressive shots on the greens. The controversy involves one of the sport’s biggest icons, Tiger Woods, who now finds himself at the center of a scandal following his recent arrest for driving under the influence in Florida. Mark Lye, a golf veteran and former professional player, did not hold back in his criticism and called for severe action from the PGA Tour. “The first step should be to remove Tiger’s name from the LA Open Genesis… it’s not a good image. He spent eight hours in jail, the minimum required by Florida law, before being released on bail.
Lye not only criticizes Woods’ conduct but also calls for the removal of the athlete as host of major events, such as the Genesis Invitational and the Hero World Challenge, as well as questioning his position as chair of the Future Competition Committee.
