The ATP 250 tournament in Hangzhou is set to showcase a Russian showdown as Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev head the main draw starting Wednesday, September 23. Both players arrive with strong ambitions to reclaim momentum on the Asian swing, making this event a pivotal battleground.

Top seed Daniil Medvedev receives a first-round bye and will face the winner of the match between France’s Valentin Royer and Australia’s Adam Walton. Medvedev’s path to the quarterfinals could cross with Paraguay’s Daniel Vallejo, the fifth seed, while potential semifinal opponents include fourth seed Quentin Halys from France and Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak.

Second seed Andrey Rublev opens against Australian Rinky Hijikata. His quarter features Portuguese Jaime Faria and Frenchman Terence Atmane, who meet in the opening round. Rublev’s semifinal challenge could come from third seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry or Hungarian Fabian Marozsan.

Italy’s sole representative, 25-year-old Mattia Bellucci, faces a tough first hurdle against the eighth seed, Kamil Majchrzak. Victory would set him against the winner between Chinese wildcard Yunchaokete Bu and American wildcard Michael Zheng.

The Hangzhou ATP 250 draw is stacked with promising contenders, with Medvedev and Rublev positioned as frontrunners. This tournament marks the start of the Asian hard-court season, which will continue with the ATP 500 events in Beijing and Tokyo before climaxing at the Shanghai Masters 1000.

Medvedev, reflecting on his draw, said, “I’m ready to get back on track here in Hangzhou. It’s a strong field, but I’m focused on each match as it comes.” Rublev added, “The competition is fierce, and every opponent demands respect. I’m looking forward to testing my form on these courts.”

With the main draw set and high stakes on the line, Hangzhou promises intense battles as Medvedev and Rublev aim to secure crucial wins in their quest for titles and ranking points on the Asian tour.
