Recent events have stirred the world of sports and media relations after tennis star Nick Kyrgios made critical comments about Kysre Gondrezick, the ex-girlfriend of NBA star Jaylen Brown. Brown, recognized as a guard/forward for the Boston Celtics, and Gondrezick, a basketball player and model, made their relationship public in July 2024. However, in February 2025, the relationship came to an end, prompting Gondrezick to share her perspective on their time together.

In an episode that generated significant backlash on social media, a parody account on the platform X (formerly Twitter) posted an image of Gondrezick in a revealing outfit, alongside a photo of Brown. The post claimed that Brown had “lost” by letting someone as attractive as Gondrezick slip away.

Nick Kyrgios, a former world No. 13 in men’s singles and Wimbledon finalist in 2022, reacted quickly. A known basketball fan and supporter of the Boston Celtics since 2005, Kyrgios controversially commented on Gondrezick’s romantic prospects, suggesting it would be difficult for her to “upgrade” her situation, while Brown would have an easier time finding a more suitable partner.

“Bruh she can’t upgrade lol – he can,” Kyrgios wrote, summarizing his opinion in a succinct statement.

Meanwhile, Gondrezick had already spoken about the end of the relationship during an appearance on the podcast “Straight to Cam.” Reflecting on the experience, she accused Brown of trying to “diminish her shine,” stating: “What is non-negotiable for me is when a man tries to dim my light. That was something I had to learn from my previous relationship.” The statement suggests that there were deeper issues that contributed to the breakup.

Kyrgios also went through changes in his personal life. He maintained a relationship with Australian influencer Costeen Hatzi, which began in late 2021 and ended in early 2025. In an interaction with followers on Instagram, he commented: “Things happen. I wish her all the best. There were many incredible memories that will stay with me.”

On the sports front, Kyrgios participated in the 2026 Australian Open, choosing to compete in men’s doubles and mixed doubles, opting out of the singles tournament due to concerns about the physical preparation required for best-of-five set matches.

In a context where the relationships of public figures are constantly scrutinized, Kyrgios’s comments and Gondrezick’s statements add new elements to the narrative, keeping the topic in the spotlight among fans and social media users.
