Carlos Alcaraz and Serena Williams shone in the second edition of the US Open mixed doubles competition, providing a spectacle that delighted fans. This event marked the return of the Spaniard to competition following a wrist injury that sidelined him since the Barcelona Open in April. Together, they formed a powerful duo, winning their first match against Erin Routliffe and Lloyd Glasspool, before being eliminated in the quarter-finals by Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli.

In an interview with Elle, Serena Williams expressed her satisfaction in playing alongside Alcaraz. The 23-time Grand Slam champion praised the young player, stating, “Carlos is an incredible player, but he also brings a lot of joy to the court. He has fantastic energy — he’s competitive, obviously, but he’s always smiling and having fun.” Williams highlighted that Alcaraz’s presence inspires her to elevate her level of play while maintaining a relaxed atmosphere, something she “really appreciates.” The veteran also commented on the advantage of having Alcaraz's speed by her side.

Both players continue in the US Open, each in their individual competitions. Alcaraz has already won his first two singles matches, overcoming Roman Safiullin and Jaime Faria. His next challenge will be against Wu Yibing in the third round. On the other hand, Serena Williams is making her return to the doubles tournament, competing alongside her sister, Venus Williams. The sisters will face Maya Joint and Chan Hao-ching, the tournament's 14th seeds.

Williams recalls the previous match against Joint, which took place in the first round of the singles tournament at Wimbledon, where she was defeated after a very close encounter. Now, she will have the opportunity to take revenge on the Australian as she seeks to revive her career at the US Open, a venue she has not competed at since her elimination in the third round in 2022. Despite her prestige and history at her home tournament, the veteran enters this match as the underdog.

As the tournament unfolds, both Alcaraz and Williams aim to showcase their experience and talent, while fans eagerly await more memorable moments at the US Open.
