Carlos Alcaraz, the young star of world tennis and current number one in the rankings, has just made an investment that promises to shake up the worlds of sports and luxury: a luxury catamaran that cost between eight and nine million euros. This bold move not only reflects his success on the courts but also his desire to enjoy leisure moments befitting his talent, following in the footsteps of his idol Rafael Nadal.

Alcaraz’s new acquisition, an impressive Sunreef Ultima 88, is being built at a shipyard in Gdansk, Poland. This catamaran, which is generally aimed at an elite clientele, is not only a symbol of wealth but also a refuge where the tennis player can find peace and relaxation away from the demands of the professional circuit. Additionally, Alcaraz has become an ambassador for the Sunreef brand, a deal that was revealed during the prestigious Palm Beach International Boat Show.

In statements to SuperYacht Times, Alcaraz expressed his deep passion for the sea, revealing that the idea of owning a boat has always been a dream of his. “I think it was two years ago that I realized how beautiful it is and how comfortable I feel whenever I’m on a boat,” said the athlete, highlighting the easy access to the sea in his hometown of Murcia. “Living here is a blessing; we have good weather all year round and the sea is very close to home. For two years now, I’ve felt that I really want to be a boat owner.”

Alcaraz also revealed that his initial contact with the Sunreef brand was influenced by Rafael Nadal, who owns a custom catamaran from the same brand. “I have always loved boats and the sea, but I never paid much attention to brands. The first time I learned about Sunreef was because of Rafa. He mentioned it a few times, so I got to know a bit about the brand because of him,” he explained.

The young tennis player does not hide that the main motivation behind the purchase of the yacht is the need for a space where he can relax and escape the constant pressure of professional tennis. “My schedule is very tight, so for me, the main reason is to relax and have a place to switch off my mind and be away from tennis. Summer trips whenever I can, or just a few days close to home. That’s my plan for now,” Alcaraz stated, highlighting the importance of finding a balance between professional and personal life.

With this acquisition, Carlos Alcaraz joins a list of elite athletes who have also chosen Sunreef yachts, including figures such as Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso and footballer Robert Lewandowski. The catamaran, nearly 27 meters long and 9 meters wide, is equipped with a hybrid engine that allows it to reach impressive speeds of 26 knots (about 50 km/h). Additionally, the presence of solar panels makes this vessel a more sustainable and environmentally friendly choice, aligning with contemporary concerns about preserving our planet.

As Alcaraz continues to shine on the courts and make significant investments off them, the world watches with enthusiasm his journey not only as an athlete but also as a new icon of luxurious living.
