“Presidential candidate for Barcelona promises Messi’s ‘last dance'”

The race for the presidency of FC Barcelona is in full swing, and one of the leading candidates, Víctor Font, is unafraid to make bold promises that could change the club’s future. In a recent interview with SER Catalunya, Font revealed his vision for the future of the “blaugrana,” including a dream that many consider impossible: the return of Lionel Messi to Catalonia. The former player, now 38 years old, is currently with Inter Miami, but Font believes there is still room for a “last dance” for the Argentine star at Barcelona.

Font, who presents himself as a candidate with an innovative project, assured that he has already spoken with the “right people” to realize his plan to bring Messi back to the club. “Leo has already taken a position; there will be no reconciliation with Laporta. I have spoken with the right people to carry out my project to bring Messi back as soon as possible. Leo must be the honorary president of the club; we need to associate the Messi and Barça brands, like Nike with Michael Jordan. And regarding the last dance, although I have doubts, we are determined,” Font stated, outlining a strategy aimed not only at Messi’s return but also at enhancing the club’s image.

But it’s not just Messi who is on Font’s radar. The candidate also has ambitions in the transfer market and is targeting Erling Haaland, the Norwegian prodigy from Manchester City. “We are looking beyond Barça in the short term. Erling is one of the best forwards in the world. Although it’s not possible to sign him right now, I know he loves Spain and Real Madrid also wants him. But we are working to bring him to us in the future. I believe we will succeed,” said Font, who also emphasized the close relationship between Haaland and Carles Planchart, a member of his candidacy.

Font did not stop there and brought up the possibility of a return for Pep Guardiola to Barcelona, stating that the current City coach “would like to close the cycle working in youth football.” Additionally, the candidate revealed that he already has a replacement prepared for Deco, the club’s current sporting director, should he win the elections: “Deco does not prioritize Barça and will not continue if we win,” he declared.

Lastly, he did not fail to deliver a scathing critique of rival Real Madrid, especially following the merengues’ victory over Manchester City in the Champions League. “The days when Real Madrid gets eliminated from the Champions are some of the greatest of the season. I’m a ‘culé’ and, as a good ‘culé’, anti-Madridista. I watched the game and didn’t understand anything, a team that plays poorly thrashing City,” Font concluded, revealing his competitive side and the passion that drives him in the race for the Barcelona presidency.
