Real Madrid is charting new directions in its defense, with particular attention now focused on two names: Diogo Dalot and Pedro Porro. As doubts grow regarding the permanence of Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Merengues are not wasting time and are already preparing a list of alternatives to strengthen their defensive sector. According to the Spanish publication SPORT, the need for a new right-back is urgent, and Real Madrid scouts are keeping a close eye on potential opportunities that may arise.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, who joined “Los Blancos” last summer on a free transfer, has struggled to justify the initial investment of 10 million euros that the club spent to bring him in quickly for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. Considered a low-cost acquisition, the 27-year-old was expected to become the natural successor to veterans Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, but reality has painted a much gloomier picture.

Carvajal, who is in the final year of his contract with the club, does not seem to be in the management’s plans to continue beyond next summer. On the other hand, Vazquez has already moved to Bayer Leverkusen, leaving Alexander-Arnold in a situation where the pressure to deliver results increases with each game. Despite his undeniable offensive qualities, his defensive shortcomings have been the subject of constant criticism. The England international has struggled to stand out in one-on-one situations and often finds himself caught out of position, raising questions about his suitability for Real Madrid’s style of play.

Unfortunately for Alexander-Arnold, injuries have also affected his performance, limiting him to just 13 appearances in La Liga and seven in the Champions League so far. He has started only eight of the 13 matches in the Spanish league, although he has managed to provide two assists and create three big chances, with an average of 1.2 key passes per 90 minutes. However, the question remains: will it be enough to keep his starting position at a club of Real Madrid’s stature?

With the need for reinforcements becoming increasingly urgent, scouts from Real Madrid are considering Pedro Porro of Tottenham Hotspur, who could be available if his team fails to maintain their position in the Premier League. The situation of Diogo Dalot at Manchester United is also a factor to consider, as the player has two years left on his contract, but his future remains uncertain. Additionally, Kyriani Sabbe, one of the gems of Club Brugge, emerges as a viable option for the “Merengues”.

The future of Trent Alexander-Arnold at Real Madrid is in the balance, and as summer approaches, the pressure on the player will only increase. The search for a new right-back is a clear indication of the club’s ambition to keep their defense solid and competitive. The countdown to the next transfer window has already begun, and fans are eagerly awaiting news about new signings that could further elevate the club’s prestige.
