“Sarri explains expulsion against Milan and calls for improvement from Lazio’s young player.”

Last night, Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri delivered a memorable performance as his team secured an impressive victory over AC Milan. “The team’s intensity and commitment have always been at a good level. However, lately, it seems to me that there is something more in terms of character. The boys also gave the fans the satisfaction of victory, but this is an atmosphere worth remembering. It’s something special. The only doubt that haunts me is how many points we would have if the Olimpico had always been like this.”

Sarri also addressed some of his tactical choices, explaining why Daniel Maldini continues to be preferred over Petar Ratkov in the attacking line, as well as the decision to position Patric as a deeper playmaker. “I watch the training sessions and make decisions, just as I do with all the other players in the squad. At the moment, I see Maldini performing better and I believe he had a good game today, which is why I played him. I had already tried Patric in that position in previous years because he has quality on the ball. Of course, he has only played there for a game and a half, so he needs a proper path, but he understands the role.”

The young goalkeeper, Edoardo Motta, achieved his first clean sheet wearing the Lazio shirt. The 21-year-old made solid saves in the second half, but Sarri expressed concern that his poor distribution could come at a cost in the future. “Motta did well between the posts today. He made two or three errors in distribution, but then he recovered. He is a young player with qualities; he needs to grow, and we hope that this growth doesn’t cost us anything.”

However, Sarri’s night did not end on a positive note, as he received a red card in the final minutes. The Tuscan coach explained that the expulsion was due to inappropriate language he used while protesting about the added time. “He sent me off because he gave six minutes of stoppage time and then added two more. I asked him where he got that from (laughs). I didn’t insult anyone — I used a strong expression and he sent me off.”
