Scottie Scheffler expresses discontent with the CEO of the PGA Tour.

The turbulence surrounding the PGA Tour seems far from over, especially now that Brian Rolapp, the controversial CEO of the organization, has gained the support of one of its biggest stars: Scottie Scheffler. During the recent 2026 Arnold Palmer Invitational, Scheffler did not hesitate to express his admiration for Rolapp, highlighting his straightforward and effective approach in an environment that is often marked by uncertainties and criticism.

“As far as [I know] Mr. Rolapp, I think he’s a guy that just kind of gets things done. Like that was my first impression of him. I met him last year at one of the playoff events. We sat down and started talking right away. It was all very straightforward, like he was saying, ‘We have an hour; let’s make the most of this hour.’ I loved that. I loved his attitude. He seems to be a guy who doesn’t mince words, who gets straight to the point and let’s work together to solve things,” said Scheffler, demonstrating a confidence that many in the golf community do not yet share.

Scheffler’s support comes at a crucial time, especially considering the recent reintegration of Brooks Koepka to the PGA Tour, who left LIV Golf. “You look at a situation like Brooks. He had the desire to come back to the Tour, and Rolapp went in and said, ‘Okay, he wants to come back; let’s figure out how to make this happen,’ and then he managed to resolve the situation quickly,” Scheffler added, emphasizing the agility and practical solutions that Rolapp brought to a tense situation.

What truly sets Rolapp apart is his humility. Unlike many leaders who seek media attention, he has not promoted himself. His efficiency became evident when the PGA Tour quickly issued a statement following Koepka’s departure from LIV, and within weeks, Rolapp implemented the ‘Returning Member Program’, a strategy aimed at reintegrating not only Koepka, but other elite athletes as well.

Moreover, Rolapp is not content with merely bringing players back. He established a Future Competition Committee, chaired by none other than Tiger Woods, with the aim of rethinking the Tour’s model. They are working on a “scarcity model,” which aims to make each tournament special, with fewer players, but greater competitiveness. The CEO is determined to complete the season before Labor Day, thus avoiding conflict with the NFL, to enhance the fan experience.

While Scheffler and others praise Rolapp’s work ethic, the reality is that not everyone at the PGA Tour is as enthusiastic. Wyndham Clark, for instance, questioned the CEO’s decisions regarding Koepka’s reintegration, insinuating that many players could have taken advantage of the same opportunity. “If you had told me that I could have gone for a year and a half, made a fortune, and then come back to play on the Tour, I think almost everyone would have done that,” Clark said, reflecting a sentiment of discontent that is spreading among some competitors.

Other professionals have expressed frustration regarding how the PGA Tour has handled the changes. An anonymous player mentioned that the ninety million dollar penalty for Koepka is a great farce, while Brandel Chamblee openly criticized Koepka’s “frictionless return,” arguing that it undermines the meritocracy that should be the foundation of the Tour.

Lucas Glover also did not shy away from criticizing Rolapp’s actions, stating that the PGA Tour leadership is hiding the true reasons behind the changes. “It’s a shame that more people don’t speak up. I know that many don’t like this. I know many who have benefited from this — myself included — who don’t like it. But there is so much money involved that no one will say anything,” Glover lamented, pointing to a climate of tension that persists.

As the PGA Tour navigates these turbulent waters, one thing is certain: Rolapp is applying a cold, business-like logic to a game that has historically been based on traditions. The future of the PGA Tour promises to be intriguing, and Scheffler’s voice, along with many others, could be decisive in the upcoming phases of this clash.
