“Mohamed Salah in search of breaking his goal drought in his career with Liverpool.”

The pressure on Mohamed Salah is mounting, but Arne Slot, the coach of his team, does not share the widespread concerns about the Egyptian forward’s current goal drought. Salah, who has become a living legend at Liverpool, has not found the back of the net in nine matches in the Premier League, a feat that raises questions about his performance, especially considering that his last goal in this league dates back to November 1, in a match against Aston Villa.

Slot, in recent statements, vehemently defended his player, emphasizing that the pressure surrounding his lack of goals is a direct consequence of his impressive career at Liverpool. “We are used to seeing Mo score a lot of goals, and at this moment, that is perhaps the biggest difference in his performance and playing time. But we know this has happened before,” said Slot, focusing on the forward’s ability to bounce back.

The coach also emphasized that Salah’s performance should not be evaluated solely by the numbers from the Premier League. “I don’t know if it’s ever happened that he’s gone nine games in a row without scoring, but I’ve had previous questions about whether he hasn’t scored in three or five games, and I know that in the end, he always starts scoring again,” he said, reinforcing his belief in Salah’s ability to turn around this less productive phase.

Slot did not hesitate to praise Salah’s ability, stating that “he has set his own standards, which are so, so, so high. The moment he doesn’t score for a few games, people are immediately surprised — that is the greatest compliment he can receive.” The coach also highlighted the importance of considering matches in other competitions, such as the FA Cup, where Salah scored a penalty against Brighton, arguing that it is unfair to disregard these achievements when analyzing his performance.

Additionally, Slot pointed out that the lack of goals is not limited to Salah alone. “The focus is entirely on him because of everything he has done for the club, but Hugo [Ekitike] and Cody [Gakpo] also haven’t been scoring many goals recently,” he noted, placing Salah’s situation in a broader context.

With pressure from the media and fans mounting, the question arises: will Salah break this drought before the season becomes even more challenging for the team? Slot’s words provide a breath of fresh air, but all eyes will be on the next game, hoping that the Egyptian genius regains his lethal form.
